Something 4 The Weekend # 125
I dunno, maybe we already had our fill of blue collar lyricism with the homegrown Bruce Springsteen and Bob Seger, and didn't need another in Phil Lynott, a rather gifted storyteller who mostly sang about the everyday lives and loves of the common man. Here it's a first-person tale of teenage love and lust, which is maybe a bit weird being sung by a 28 year old man, but there ya have it. A 28 year old black man fronting an Irish hard rock band. Maybe America couldn't quite wrap their mind around that.
Whatever. I'm grasping here...
"Dancing In The Moonlight" was a minor hit for Thin Lizzy here in the States in 1977, the last time they would chart, and while the band isn't quite as heavy as they usually were, Lynott's singing is still strong and center, and I just happen to really like his voice...
So, there ya go...
I'm going to a cookout at The Thump's place tonight, and considering the substances that will undoubtedly be on hand, we all may very well be dancing in the moonlight tonight...
If it doesn't rain...And maybe even if it does...
Anyways - a joyous Independence Day to you and yours!
Hotcha! Hank
