She had hair like Jeannie Shipton back in 1965
She had legs that never ended
I was halfway paralyzed.
She was tall and cool and pretty and she dressed as black as coal
If she asked me to I'd murder, I would gladly lose my soul.

Now I lie in bed and think of her
Sometimes I even weep,
Then I dream of her behind the wall of sleep.

I gotta be honest - I never found an appreciation for The Smithereens, and even heaped small amounts of scorn on a couple of people I knew who did appreciate them...One of them, a good friend of mine, actually, said, "Hating The Smithereens is like hating The Beatles."

How does THAT not rate some scorn-heaping?

I do like Graham Parker's Squeezing Out Sparks album, though...Though I gotta be honest again - he got squeezed out by Elvis Costello in my musical world, you know? One solid album, and then a shadow...

Even more true, I toyed with the idea of streaming "Saturday Nite Is Dead" for a S4TW a few weeks ago...

And like a shadow, it was onward to Frightened Rabbit, or something...

Hotcha!
