Maneuver Your Future Sideways

The future's just a day away, but the end might come sooner... It might be a super massive earthquake that cracks the world off its axis... Or deep vein thrombosis... My point is, we probably won't even notice...

And what if a giant hand reached down from the skies and shook things up a bit? That would blow all our minds... Even the believers... And then what?

Tonight I drink Pinot Noir and sample/loop dialogue from an old sci-fi radio show... Maybe later I'll fire up Sim City 3000 Unlimited and let tornadoes rip through Coco Valley.

Something 4 The Weekend # 202

Tony Allen: Black Voices: "Get Together" [mp3]

Consider this - two of my coworkers and your's truly have Dropbox accounts, and the three of us - middle-aged suburban caucasians all - have spent the past week sharing Afrobeat albums across the digital universe.

You probably consider it trite. I mean, I think we've all come to take for granted the ways and means of modern life and convenience.

I dunno, when I stop to consider shit like that, I can only conclude that we live in a truly strange and wonderful world.

Something 4 The Weekend # 127

In regards to S4TW, I've been trying to balance dinosaurs and the youth of today, babycakes...
I'm trying to stay true to my roots (the classic '70's album Rock, Punk, and New Wave that I cut my teeth on, and still love the most), while sharing some of the great and cool new stuff that the kids of today are twittering and facebooking and whatever...Those Pabst-swilling Williamsburg hipsters you don't see much in the record stores these days...Those bearded stoners of Silverlake who've got cooler things to do than go to clubs to see bands, like getting sucked into a Top Chef marathon on Bravo and forgetting to go to clubs and see bands...
And still a band like The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart can attain a certain level of indie rock fame and widespread critical acclaim without selling very many shiny discs and/or tickets, cuz according to one of my nameless coworkers, these here internet tubes are reality. Not a separate reality, not virtual reality, but reality. He spends 8+ hours a day writing software code at work, and another 4+ hours networking socially on the internet at home. Add eating and shitting and sleeping, and yeah, I guess this is reality, at least for those of us like him...
And that's the way it is...Friday, July 17th, 2009.

10 Twittering Porntarts

As I slide slowly into middle age, I'm not quite as horny as I used to be, which is probably for the best because dating and sex become just a bit more difficult to maintain/pursue with every passing year. The crux of the biscuit is this - I'm just too tired to hit the bars and clubs and all the other the places one might go to find companionship...It's getting to be too much fucking work...I'd much prefer to hang out at home or at a friends house, doing the kinds of things people do indoors these days - play videogames, watch DVDs, listen to MP3s streaming from a PC and just bullshit about whatever...

In regards to my fading libido, I'm also less inclined to use pornography, and even so, I've always been more of an amateur porn consumer, which is my way of saying I've never really been too familiar with the work of the more famous professional porn starlets. For example, I've never seen even a 10 second sample clip of Jenna Jameson, and I feel like I'm not really missing anything.

Which is my way of saying that of the ten porntarts on this list, I'm only familiar with the work of two - Lexi Belle and Jenna Haze. I've heard of most of the others, but haven't seen them in action.

Which is beside the point of this list, really. I just happen to find the daily minutae of porntarts kinda fascinating. It's obvious that their Twitter profiles are mostly about self-promotion and branding, but some of these porntarts are actually quite interesting.

I'm not a fan of Star Wars in the least...Hate Star Wars, actually...

However, I AM a fan of sounds, electric guitars, and facial hair, and I got a small kick outta this 20 second video. Plus, if push came to shove, I'd admit to thinking that Chewbacca is kinda cool.

On The Eighth Day Of Christmas

I give to thee...EIGHT AMAZINGLY ACCURATE PREDICTIONS FOR 2009 AND BEYOND...

[Wagering implied]

HPHPHPHPHPHPHPHPHPHPHPHPHPHPHPHPHPHPHPHPHP

01: In defiant response to the passing of Proposition 8 in California, the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences awards the Oscar for BEST ACTOR to Sean Penn for his portrayal of gay activist and politician, Harvey Milk in the film Milk. Sorry Mickey Rourke, although it's always an honor to even be nominated, isn't that what they say?

02: President Barack Obama is attacked by a gang of squirrels while taking a smoke break out in the White House rose garden...Secret Service agents are able to eliminate the small and furious attackers before the president is seriously hurt, but NOT before the entire scene is captured on a Sony DCR-HC62 MiniDV camcorder by a tourist from Houston, who's identity isn't coming to me at this time. This young man will become famous, however, when he sells the footage to YouTube for $600,000.

03: Paris Hilton will suddenly and unexpectedly marry David Lee Roth, and their honeymoon will be the basis for a reality show on VH1. The dynamite ratings will naturally lead to a second season, in which the couple record and album together and talk about having a baby...Paris wants a kid just like her old friend Nicole Ritchie, but it seems Diamond Dave's sperm aren't nearly as lively as they used to be...Stay tuned, babycakes, in Season Three we find out whether or not DLR has what it takes to knock up his all-American princess once and for all...

04: Spring flooding of the Mississippi River devastates farmland along the river, and in cities such as Dubuque and Burlington, Iowa, and St. Louis, Missouri...REO Speedwagon write and record a charity song about lost corn crops which fails to generate any interest among the general population.

05: The Carolina Panthers will defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers, 20 to 16 in Super Bowl XLIII at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on February 1st, 2009. During Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band's halftime performance there will NOT be a wardrobe malfunction, however Clarence Clemons will purposefully whip out his dick on stage during "The Promised Land" portion of the second medley. A 3 second delay is enough to keep the footage off the air, but in March an unedited version starts showing up on P2P network filesharing sites, and soon becomes an internet sensation...Naturally Christian and Pro-Family groups are outraged, but the FCC has no idea who to sue.

06: In May, actor George Clooney is horribly disfigured in a freak deep-frying accident. A series of complicated facial-transplant surguries leave him looking like Kevin Spacey.

07: Sometime in the first half of 2009 this very HOT POOP blog will begin to use Google Adsense. As a result, I will make 16 cents a month from this site, and can finally put "professional blogger" on my business card.

08: Scientists in Finland will make the startling discovery that puppies cause cancer. Two months later the less-startling discovery will be made that those Finnish scientists were funded by Cat Fancy Magazine to try boosting their subscription base. Ultimately, however, they will be vindicated when several other unbiased scientific teams determine that yes, puppies do indeed cause cancer, as well as Type II Diabetes.

Winter Is Already Hard...

Last night/earlier this morning, I posted a bunch of videos because I was bored at the moment, having spent all day Friday stuck inside while 11 inches of snow fell outside...Here in Madison we're already on track to set new records for total snowfall in December, and we're already ahead of the season total record pace from last winter...

I spent half the day watching old episodes of Saturday Night Live on VHS tapes, spent another healthy portion of the day napping on the couch with the Isaac and Eno nestled somewhere in there...Later on I ate two large bowls of homemade Cheddar-Broccoli soup, and read the first few chapters of Rainbows End by Vernor Vinge while Brian Eno music streamed softly in the background...

Then I hung around YouTube...Until this...

Shit got real weird, babycakes...

First, all the power went out...But before I could stumble around by the light of my Djeep disposable lighter, and go downstairs to hit the circuit breakers, all the power came back on, and when I say ALL the power, I mean every last thing in the house that was powered by electricity suddenly came ON, including all those lights and appliances and musical gear and whatnot that wasn't on before the power went out...This didn't quite startle the cats, but it certainly freaked me out...

And then the two televisions, two boomboxes, the clockradio and my guitar amp all were suddenly interrupted by what I can only describe as harmonious, melodic static...Like a choir of digital angels from some other dimension...Both cats sat by the front door and kinda chittered the way they do when they're watching birds and squirrels from the windows, and this absolutely freaked me out, so I turned everything off, ate a chocolate chip muffin which I washed down with an extra-large, extra-strong Brandy Alexander, and layed in bed for the next hour or two, wondering what the world was coming to, or if I had merely lost my mind...

When I finally slept, I dreamt of that time I went raccoon hunting with my cousin Chico and that enormous barn owl swooped down out of the darkness and attacked Grinch, the young mutt on his first hunt that night...Actually tried carrying Grinch away, but the poor dog was just a little too heavy, and the owl couldn't lift him more than a couple feet off the ground before he had to drop him...

The dream ended on the beach, like so many of my dreams do...Or maybe it was a dream within a dream...Or maybe it was the soup.

Extreme Nostalgia Invasion

Working for a superhuge multi-national conglomeration that makes and sells a seemingly infinite variety of goods and services, including gaming systems, has it's advantages. For example, a free PSP system, and free UMD games from time to time...HOTCHA!

So, yeah, recently, I got my dirty mitts on this game, Space Invaders Extreme, and as someone who literally came of age at video arcades (The Electric Connection!), I was definitely excited to give this game a whirl...I dropped many a quarters into the original Space Invaders arcade game, and I could hang with just about every other dude in the Electric Connection, except for those two or three that made Space Invaders their game...

If I had a game, and I'm not sure if I did, because I jumped around from machine to machine, including extreme amounts of time at the Foosball table, I'd hafta say my game was Galaga...

Now, Galaga was just a more colorful and sophisticated version of Space Invaders, and when you get right down to it, this new 30th Anniversary Edition of the original Space Invaders looks and plays more like a high-tech version of Galaga than it's actual namesake...

Which isn't a bad thing, really...Space Invaders Extreme is brash and colorful and loud and fast and absolutely 100% non-stop, which means ya gotta hit pause with some regularity in order to give yr eyeballs some rest...

Which isn't to say this game doesn't translate to the relative small PSP screen, because it actually looks phenomenal, and plays well...No, believe me, it's the pace and and the colors the graphics that will fuck you up...

If you enlarge this pic, it's about actual-size...Now imagine solid Techno Music blazing away, while invaders and UFOs of all shapes and sizes and colors attack and attack and attack, unrelentingly...Endlessly...

Anyways, if you happen to have a PSP, or Nintendo DS, this modern remake of a classic and simple gaming concept (move Left and Right + Fire) is a fun and frantic diversion, and if yr as old as me, there's that added enforced nostalgia...Even a little goes a long way...

2008 Laminated List # 1

It's probably not mere coincidence that this post is #500 at HOT POOP...Winona Ryder has been #1 on the Laminated List Of My Mindâ„¢ for damn near 20 years now...The film Heathers, from 1989, was when my adoration for the actress was cemented, although I became quite smitten with her in Beetlejuice from the previous year. My point is, I've had a thing for Winona Ryder for a long time, and it only seems right and natural that she's a part of a somewhat landmark post for this blog...

Since last year's list, I Netflixed A Scanner Darkly for the first time on DVD, which convincingly displays her deceivingly ample bosom...I also saw a rerun of the Friends episode wherein she shares a pretty decent kiss with Jennifer Aniston, and that's always fun to see...Watched most of the Winona films I have in my DVD collection - Heathers, Night On Earth, Reality Bites, Edward Scissorhands...etc...

Since last year's list, the tabloid blogs have romantically linked Winona to one of the guys from Rilo Kiley, as well as Keanu Reeves...Well, Keanu's dating a semi-obscure actress named China Chow, so that story's dead, but a dude from Rilo Kiley is possible, considering Winona's historically questionable taste in second-rate musicians, of which I am one (possibly third-rate), which helps keep my dreams of laminated glory alive...

She was also accused of shoplifting again, this time in the pages of the National Inquirer and nowhere else...Just some make-up from a CVS Pharmacy in Hollywood. Nothing to worry about. A false blip on a faulty radar.

It's also been reported, and I believe confirmed, that she will play young Spock's mom in the upcoming Star Trek movie...She will probably get about 3 minutes of screen time, and will be the sole reason I actually watch a fucking Star Trek movie...Netflixed, however, cuz not even Winona will get me to pay for a ticket to one of those things...Not even with JJ Abrams at the helm...Anyways, another year, another top spot for Winona in the Laminated List Of My Mindâ„¢ and the archives of HOT POOP!

Onward...Sideways...

FRIV

Most days, my job keeps me pretty busy. Some days, however, there simply isn't much to do, and to stop wondering to myself why I just don't use a few of the 192 vacation hours I've accumulated, lately I've been visiting FRIV to kill some time at my desk.
FRIV is a game site. It features 200 Flash Games (to be honest, I dunno if they're all Flash) of all crazy sorts, and it's fun to blindly click on one of those icons and see what new random game I'm gonna try next. Some of these games are outright turds, but plenty of 'em are 100% HOT POOP, and if you've played any games online over the past few years, you've probably ran into more than a few of 'em.
Lately I've been digging THE SNIPER, TOWER BLASTER, FLIGHT OF THE HAMSTERS, and GATEWAY. If ya get bored at work yrself, why not give the the site a spin, and see what you can find...200 games, babycakes, and I've only tasted about 40 of 'em so far...
(That's four weeks and four days of vacation babycakes, just sitting there, begging to be slapped and tickled)

EVERYTHINGATHON! May 2008

Volume 77 of the EVERYTHINGATHON! podcast is now available for streaming and downloading at my website of the same name, and let me tell you, babycakes, it's nothing less than epic. "Epic" because it's nearly 80 minutes long. "Epic" because it includes 48 songs (whole and parts) from the year 1977..."Epic" because I'm Hank Mohaski.
Since it's Volume 77, this month's episode is dedicated 100% to the year 1977, when I was a young manchild, grappling with the new fur on my noodle and the new and exciting feelings I had for the fairer sex that went along with that fur. 1977 was also a fairly pivotal year for me in terms of music, when Punk broke through in America for the first time, when all that "Classic Rock" was still fresh and Non-Classic, when a dork like Alan O'Day could hit the top of the Billboard Charts with a piece of cheese like "Undercover Angel", and I was still willing to sing along without a speck of irony...
1977 gave us Star Wars, terrorism in Washington DC, the death of Elvis Presley, and an unusual number of plane crashes...
Anyways, you'll have to listen to the entire 80 minutes of this month's EPIC podcast to get all the juicy details of a year and an era some of you might not even have been alive yet to witness in all it's weird glory...Available for the month of May, until another outstanding, if not EPIC, podcast comes along...
Enjoy, and get it on...

HANK RANKS No. 16

The 16 Potential Names Of My Last Role-Playing Character

....................

The band I was in from 86-89, Mumniti, played an epic D&D campaign, with bassist Fred as the DM, once a week for a year or so...My character was an elven Thief/Assassin named Poto Sai...

That was the first time I ever did the whole role-playing thing...It was pretty cool...My character spent half the year under the spell of some magic mushrooms I had eaten...Lycanthropy was involved for awhile, and my character's dreams/hallucinations were most excellent...Along the way I stole and did contract hits in a middle-earth fantasy kinda universe with a band of other morally ambiguous adventurers...

(Later on the Thief video game franchise came along...one of my faves, natch, that made it's way to #3 on a previous HANK RANKS, dontcha know?)

The second and last time I role played was about two years ago, when a neighbor of my friend The Thump, put together an old, Wild West-themed campaign...It seemed like a fun way to kill 2-3 hours once a week, and so I put together a character, and a-role-playing I went, with Thump, and a Scottish dude named Shane...The neighbor who would be the DM was named Austin...

Four of us, who's personalities didn't quite mesh, and the story moved too slowly, I thought, and so we never got much traction...I think we played about a dozen times before it all fell apart...

Anyways, my character's name ended up being Asa Blackburn, which isn't actually on this list, and his backstory was that he was a farmer (tobacco, corn, assorted animals) who's house and barn and fields had been ransacked and burned to the ground by the Confederate Army during the Civil War...His wife had been killed in the fire, and for reasons unknown, he fled to the west, ending up in a small mining town called Dead Mule, out in "Injun country"...Looking for adventure, and to simply forget his tragic past...He drinks alot, and attempts to befriend a VERY LARGE FORMER CIRCUS BEAR...

Long blathering story short, yesterday I found an old index card with these names written down on it...My list of potential names for my character...Feel free to use any of these names for any of yr role-playing needs, or if you possibly need an alias in Wyoming...
....................

Something 4 The Weekend # 60

So, there's a wicked large lump of pompous assery two posts below about the whole "Cool Britannia" movement of the 1990's, and in particular, Britpop. I only mentioned Oasis and Blur in that post in an attempt to keep some sort of clarity and focus in my argument (as if), but as I was clacking away on my keyboard, I kept thinking about Pulp, and how I was really giving 'em the shaft, cuz an argument can and has been made by many tasteful and knowledgable people that Pulp's 1995 album, Different Class, is the pinnacle of Britpop, the single greatest album of that movement, that era..

I don't know that I have an opinion on any of this. I take great pleasure in being 95% ambivalent about Oasis, and as far as Blur goes, I like each of their albums more than the previous one, which means I liked 'em more when they went "anti-Britpop" by seemingly cashing in with their take on American Grunge ala "Song 2", and I liked their last album, Think Tank, best of all, an album released in 2003 when Britpop was long dead and irrelevant...

So yeah, I gave Pulp the shaft in that previous post about a dead and irrelevant musical trend, and here we are...I also gave The Auteurs the shaft, but we won't get into that...
Clarity and focus...Clarity and focus...

Is Different Class the Sgt. Pepper of 90's Britpop? Like I said, I dunno. There's no denying the quality of the songwriting throughout, and the nimble genre-hopping Pulp nails time and again, although their basic maneuver tends towards dance/disco flavored pop-rock...There's no mistake that Jarvis Cocker has a fairly informed understanding of British life in all it's classes and flavors, and his lyrics are smart and funny and caustic. Is he better than Damon Albarn in these respects? You tell me. In the mid-90's I was listening to alot of Jazz, alt.country, and Pavement.
"Sorted For E's & Wizz" is a piss-take on the British rave culture of that era, when the kids were trudging off to muddy fields in unknown rural locales, their heads full of assorted substances. On the surface Cocker is really saying nothing more than drugs make you stupid, and therefore drugs are stupid. But if I'm reading correctly between Cocker's lines, (pompous assery here) he's also saying that ravers don't give two shits about their beloved music as long as they've got their pharmaceuticals in pocket.
But I suppose that sentiment could be applied to most musical scenes...The fans AND the artists themselves...
[deep breath]
Jazz and smack and cheap wine.
'60's Rock and LSD and weed and shrooms and wines made out of dandelions and rhubarb.
Reggae and weed.
Jam Bands and LSD and shrooms and wine and expensive hydro weed with silly names that you gotta buy from college kids with names like Trevor and Justin.
Disco and cocaine.
Rap and crack and west coast gin'n'juice and east coast Cristal and lowriding trunks full of weed rolling coast to coast like a motherfucker.
Trad Country and beer and hard liquor and plenty of speed.
Modern Pop Country and oxycontin and lite beers in cans.
Punk and smack and speed and more beer with Fear, except for the straight edgers, natch.
Heavy Metal and weed and beer and speed and stuff like Jaegermeister and blackberry brandy.
Hair metal and cocaine and Jack Daniels.
Gospel and angel dust.
Bluegrass and opium.
Grunge and smack and coffee and weed and microbrews.
Nu-Metal and Ritalin.
Techno and Ecstacy and speed (E and Wizz) and LSD and Red Bull'n'Vodka and candy pacifiers.
Classical and wine and soft cheeses. Sometimes a scotch with a splash of soda and an understated cigar.
Indie rock and Pabst.
Polka and Viagra (miss you, grampa Frank!)
Teen pop and chocolate and soda pop.
Juggalos and 2 liter bottles of Faygo soda. And probably crystal meth.
Goth and wine and absinthe and the menstrual blood of virgin wiccans.
Well, that was kinda fun...Gospel and angel dust, I shit you not...
Maybe Cocker isn't quite as clever as you or me or other tasteful and knowledgable people think he is. Maybe he's taking easy shots at big targets that others have already slain.
Maybe The Auteurs' Now I'm A Cowboy LP is the pinnacle of Britpop. Maybe Luke Haines truly is the most brilliant of 'em all.
What do I know?
I know that the new Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks album is tasty. I should, because I'm drinking Ethiopian coffee and smoking some primo kind that my guy calls "Trinity". I think I'm supposed to be falling into "bullet time", but it just ain't happening. It's all good.

07 March 2008

Netflix Notes: 07 March 2008

Fantastic Voyage won two Oscars in 1966, for Best Art Direction, and Best Visual Effects, and imagining the cinematic landscape of that year, it's pretty easy to understand why the film won those awards.
The problem is, the passage of time is so often so very cruel, as it is with the set designs and special effects in this film. What we have here really, are Star Trek sets and effects with a bigger budget, and yet, that extra cash doesn't really improve upon anything we've seen in Star Trek, and in fact, in many instances the props and effects are downright laughable - here we have huge computer banks with dozens upon dozens of lights and buttons and dials, and yet, there's not a single word/label to be found anywhere on those consoles. That doesn't stop the technicians (hello, James Brolin!) from pushing and twisting and tweaking like they're directly jacked into the system like it's cyberpunk circa 1986. Here we have a submarine that looks like a ski boat with some plastic wings fused onto it, and then when it's shrunk down, looks like a really cheap Matchbox/Hot Wheels toy. And here we have computer monitors that actually display actual fucking drawings on their screens, instead of anything even remotely "real".
But perhaps I'm getting a bit ahead of myself.
The story is - both the USA and USSR (the cold war is raging hard in 1966, babycakes) are developing the science of miniaturization, and when the Soviet scientist who makes the big breakthrough tries defecting to the West, an assassination attempt leaves him in a coma with a blood clot in his brain.
The problem is - the comatose scientist's big breakthrough allows miniaturized people and things to remain small for long periods of time, because at the moment, the smaller something or someone is shrunk, the quicker it returns to normal size.
And so a team is assembled in the USA to be minaturized along with a nuclear-powered submarine, and injected into the comatose scientist's body to remove the blood clot with a sophisticated laser weapon.
Two problems - they only have an hour to get the job done, and wouldn't you know it - there's a double agent amongst the miniaturized crew!
GASP!
It's an interesting story idea, I'll admit. Interesting enough that Isaac Asimov was willing to write a novelization of the original screenplay for Bantam Books that ultimately hit the streets several months before the film itself, with Asimov's name and reputation really helping to market the movie...The problem is, it's an interesting story rather poorly told (Asimov's novel is much more complex and speculatively possible than the screenplay itself), and again, alot of really cheesy props and effects don't help.
And I'd be more than willing to overlook those lame props and outdated effects (mostly background green screen stuff) if the screenplay and direction were actually any good. But they aren't, and so it's not until minute 38 of a 101 minute film that the crew and their submarine are actually miniaturized and inside the comatose scientist's body. Again, that might not be such a problem if those first 38 minutes weren't so absolutely fucking slow and undramatic, full of a whole lot of dialogue that essentially tells us no more than what I've already told you - the leading miniaturization expert is in a coma, needs a brain operation, so we're sending in a crew, rather than actually doing a, you know, normal brain operation with normal-sized doctors.
At minute 20 the sequence begins during which time the crew and submarine are going to be miniaturized and injected. You think to yourself, "finally, the doctors and military officers are done arguing and explaining and slide-ruling, and there's gonna be some good ol' fashioned shrinking!"
Except, it's a four phase operation that will take another 18 minutes to accomplish, during which time there will be alot of long quiet scenes in which the crew members do nothing more than look nervously at one another as they get shrunken down, dropped inside a syringe with the world's tiniest forklift, and finally shot into the patient's carotid artery...
The patient, with his shaved skull mapped and numbered for no good reason, and a big red X magic-markered onto his neck...And the tiny radars...All the tiny radars! So many tiny radars!
Ahh, minute 38 and the shrooms and/or acid should be kicking in right about now, and I'm not really kidding because our first look inside the patient's body is the bloodstream, which looks pretty much like a lava lamp, or those acid-washed projector shows that were all the rage in the hippie age...One can't help but believe this film was made for the druggie subculture, and while I didn't eat any shrooms or drop any acid for this, I did smoke up the kind for my viewing of Fantastic Voyage, but as you can tell, it didn't really help me enjoy it all that much.
*HERE BE SPOILERS*
So, like I mentioned, there's a double agent amongst the shrunken crew, and hey, Donald Pleasence is in the cast. At the 30 minute mark, when he's already shrunken down and inside a submarine inside a syringe, his character has an attack of claustrophobia and desperately tries to escape the sub, and one can't help but think, "If he's got claustrophobia, how did he get vetted to be one of the shrunken crew, and why would he want to be there? He wouldn't be there unless he had a damn good reason to be there."
Saboteur!
Near the very end, Pleasence's character is attacked and engulfed by a white blood cell, a white blob made of nothing more sophisticated than laundry detergent. "And the winner is..."
Speaking of the ending - As long and slow and drawn out as the beginning of this film is, so the ending is amazingly abrupt.
There is six minutes left before the crew and their submarine begin growing back to normal size, and they have yet to fix the blood clot and deal with Donald Pleasence. Of course, the crew spends two of those minutes standing around inside the submarine talking, but this is a drug-addled sci-fi script, so no worries. The crew exits the sub, laser-gun the clot back to good health, but when Pleasence meanwhile commandeers the sub and crashes it into some grey matter, where it is attacked by laundry detergent, the remaining crew is forced to swim in their underwhelming scuba gear for the tear duct if they're gonna make it out of the comatose scientist's body in time.
Which they do. Where they are scooped up on a microscope slide by a general (not a scientist or doctor) and then quickly grow back to normal size, and are greeted with many hugs and handshakes by all the technicians and military men.
The end.
No word on whether the comatose scientist survives or not, which kinda sucks cuz there's a dead Donald Pleasance and a submarine made out of a ski boat still inside of him, after all, and wouldn't they grow and explode out of his body?
Nope, just the camera pulling away and all those handshakes and hugs.
Oh, and did I mention Raquel Welch is in the cast, looking a bit like the original Eva Mendes and actually doing more acting than just looking all hot and chesty for the drug-addled sci-fi geeks?
3 out of 5 cuz the passage of time is a cruel bitch, and Raquel Welch is chesty anyways...Otherwise it woulda been a 2, cuz c'mon, the blood clot was made outta attic insulation!
Hotcha! Hank
